Who runs this site
SearchMobileNumber is an independent, community-powered project. We are not affiliated with any telecom operator, government agency, or law enforcement body in any country. Our data comes from two places: reports submitted directly by visitors, and supplementary signals from third-party fraud databases (detailed below).
How the risk score works
Every number gets a risk score from 0–100, built entirely from community reports. There's no black box here — this is the actual logic:
1Each report category has a base weight
Different report types contribute different amounts to the score:

2Recent reports count more
A report from the last 24 hours adds more weight than one from last month. Risk scores reflect current behavior, not just historical volume.
3Coordinated abuse gets dampened
If more than 60% of a number's reports come from a single source, we apply a dampening factor to that number's score. This protects against someone mass-reporting a number to fake a high risk score, or coordinating to clear a genuinely risky one.
4Reporter trust is factored in
Sources with a strong history of accurate reports carry slightly more weight; sources flagged as unreliable carry less. New or unknown sources are treated neutrally — nobody starts at a disadvantage.
💡 The final score is capped at 0–100. A 0 doesn't mean "verified safe" — it usually means no reports exist yet. A search with zero reports is genuinely different from a search confirming safety.
How community reports are moderated
Anyone can file a report without an account, but every submission goes through a moderation step before it affects a number's public risk score:
- Trusted sources with a strong track record of accurate, approved reports are fast-tracked and published immediately.
- New or unverified sources go through automated content moderation that checks the report for spam, abuse, or clearly fabricated content before it's approved.
- Rate limits cap how many reports a single source can file in a 24-hour window, to limit spam and coordinated manipulation.
- All moderation decisions are logged, and we periodically review the log for accuracy.
About the AI summary
Each number page includes a short AI-generated summary. It's important to know what this is and isn't:
- The AI is given only the actual data for that number — the report categories, report descriptions, and carrier/location info already shown on the page. It is explicitly instructed not to invent details that aren't in that data.
- If there are no reports, the summary says so honestly rather than guessing.
- The summary is a convenience layer on top of the real community data, not a separate source of truth. The reports themselves are the primary evidence — we'd encourage you to read them directly rather than relying on the summary alone for an important decision.
Where our external data comes from
Alongside community reports, some number pages show supplementary signals from third-party fraud databases. These are kept visually and structurally separate from our community risk score, since they come from a different methodology entirely:
IPQualityScore
Provides line-type detection (mobile, landline, VOIP, prepaid) and a fraud score based on their own global abuse database. Used for most countries.
SkipCalls
Provides spam-flag data specific to US numbers, supplementing our own community reports for that market.
libphonenumber (Google)
The open-source library we use to validate number formats and detect carrier, number type, and timezone information from the number itself — independent of any report data.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share search data with advertisers.
- We don't claim a low or zero risk score means a number is verified safe — absence of reports is not proof of safety.
- We're not a law enforcement or government tool, and reporting a number here does not file a police report or legal complaint on your behalf.
